It's time to get "On Track" with the kick-off to college planning week.

ICAN and Iowa College Aid are kicking off the new academic year with College Planning Week - a series of events to help every Iowa high school student kick the 2022-23 academic year off on the right foot.

    • Not every student is looking to seek a degree after high school and that is OK! Join this session to learn more about pursuing alternate pathways beyond high school that are just as valuable as a degree. We will learn about the application process, of current opportunities, and benefits of the following pathways; registered apprenticeships, joining the workforce, and/or joining the Iowa National Guard or military.

  • Ready, Willing, and Able: Preparing Teenagers for College, 12:00-1:00 p.m.
    • Angela Lamb, University of Iowa
    • Taking the “right” classes and getting good grades is only part of the story when it comes to preparing for college. In reality, teens should also be developing a set of key behaviors, attitudes, and skills necessary for academic success long before graduating from high school. This session will offer three critical, yet somewhat complex, characteristics of a successful college student and provide strategies for facilitating their development among high school students.
